The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) set-up in November 2000 by the Government of India has the primary mandate of coordinating all matters relating to medicinal plants and support policies and program for the growth of trade, export, conservation, and cultivation. The Board is located in the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homeopathy (AYUSH) of the Ministry of Health Family Welfare.

About Database The first version of this database correlates 7263 botanical names with around 1,00,000 vernacular names of plants entities in nine different languages. It also includes 5000 plant images of medicinal plants and appropriately linked to the proper botanical names.
