Almonds certainly are healthy for our body but experts say that they are must for the healthy functioning of human heart

They say that vitamin Emonounsaturated fatmagnesium, and antioxidants found in the nuts help in improving blood flow and general heart health. The cholesterol-lowering effects of almonds make it a friendly food for heart. Talking further about the good qualities of almonds, researchers say that having almonds in breakfast is a healthy habit. It provides many nutrients that contribute to heart health, namely, fibremono-saturated fat, vitamin E and phyto-chemicals.

Eating a handful of almonds daily helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels. It is also being said that almonds are rich in vitamin E, which is absorbed by human body the most. Indian natural herb Tulsi to fight back swine flu

Ayurveda, the traditional 'science of life', has a remedy for diseases when every other stream of medicine fails. Now, at a time when swine flu is spreading like wildfire across the world, Ayurveda has the remedy in the form of the miraculous herb, the basil leaves commonly known as Tulsi.

Tulsi, the purest and most sublime plant, has been known and worshipped in India for more than five millennia for its remarkable healing properties. Considered as an 'Elixir of Life', this wonder herb has now been claimed to keep the deadly swine flu at bay and help fast recovery in afflicted persons.

"The anti-flu property of Tulsi has been discovered by medical experts across the world quite recently. Tulsi improves the body's overall defence mechanism including its ability to fight viral diseases. It was successfully used in combating Japanese Encephalitis and the same theory applies to swine flu," Dr U K Tiwari, a herbal medicine practitioner says.

Apart from acting as a preventive medicine in case of swine flu, Tulsi can help the patient recover faster.

"Even when a person has already contracted swine flu, Tulsi can help in speeding up the recovery process and also help in strengthening the immune system of the body," he claims.

Dr Bhupesh Patel, a lecturer at Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar is also of the view that Tulsi can play an important role in controlling swine flu.

"Tulsi can control swine flu and it should be taken in fresh form. Juice or paste of at least 20-25 medium sized leaves should be consumed twice a day on an empty stomach." This increases the resistance of the body and, thereby, reduces the chances of inviting swine flu," believes Patel.

As its name suggests, Tulsi has again proved to be the 'the incomparable' medicine - this time, in the prevention and cure of swine flu.

The symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. A significant number of people who have been infected with novel H1N1 flu virus also have reported diarrhea and vomiting.

The high risk groups for novel H1N1 flu are not known at this time, but it's possible that they may be the same as for seasonal influenza. However, Please consult a practitioner in case of any such symptoms. Doctors have strictly advised against self medication.(With PTI inputs)

Benefits of Bananas

Banana Containing three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fibre  a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression : According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS : Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anaemia : High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anaemia.

Blood Pressure : This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect to beat blood pressure.
So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke
Brain Power : 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation : High in fibre, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers : One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn : Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness : Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites : Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves : Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady

Ulcers : The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) : Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress : Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be balanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes : According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine,"eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

Pomegranate fruit

EVERY SEED OF POMEGRANATE USE IN HEALTH

Two things benefits for the human, lukewarm water and pomegranate. Pomegranate is a seasonal fruit in Pakistan & India so I tried an experiment with dried pomegranate seeds.

I prepared a decoction boiling the fistful of dried seeds in half a liter of water for 10 minutes, squeezed the seeds, strained the decoction and advised those patients suffering from painful angina to use a glass of lukewarm decoction on an empty stomach in the morning.

The amazing result was observed, the decoction of dried pomegranate seeds worked like a magic, the feelings of tightness and heaviness of chest and the pain had gone.

It encouraged me to try more experiments on all types of cardiac patients so I tried other experiments on patients who were suffering from painful angina, coronary arterial blockage, cardiac ischemia (insufficient blood flow to the heart muscle), etc., waiting for bypass surgery. The same lukewarm decoction was used on an empty stomach in the morning. The patients experienced quick relief in all symptoms including painful condition.

In another case of coronary arterial blockage the patient started using half glass of fresh pomegranate juice every day for one year, although all symptoms were completely relieved within a week he continued taking it for a whole year, it completely reversed the plaque build-up and unblocked his arteries to normal, the angiography report confirmed the evidence.

Thus decoction of dried pomegranate seeds, fresh pomegranate juice or eating a whole pomegranate on empty stomach in the morning proved to be a miracle cure for cardiac patients. But the lukewarm dried seeds decoction proved to be more effective compared to eating a whole pomegranate or fresh pomegranate juice.

Use of pomegranate in any way has demonstrated even more dramatic effects as a blood thinner, pain killing properties for cardiac patients, lowers LDL (low-density lipoprotein or bad cholesterol) and raises the HDL (high-density lipoprotein or good cholesterol). There are more than 50 different types of heart diseases, the most common being coronary artery disease (CAD), which is the number one killer of both women and men in some countries, and there has been no medicinal cure for this disease.

Many cardiac patients have reversed their heart diseases on my advice using one glass of lukewarm decoction of pomegranate dried seeds, half glass of fresh pomegranate juice or eating a whole pomegranate on empty stomach in the morning. It was the very first real breakthrough in the history of cardiology to successfully treat the cardiac diseases by a fruit.

The more superfoods to obtain the even faster results for cardiac patients which are most promising curative and protective agents like fresh raisins, quince, guava, prunes (dried plums), natural vinegar, mixture of grapefruit juice and honey in the morning (empty stomach), basil leaves, chicory leaves, powder of oregano leaves and rock salt in equal quantity (in case the patient is not hypertensive) and sesame oil as cooking oil for cardiac patients.

It is regretted to say that treating the heart patients and bypass surgery has become far more profitable business around the world which has failed to help avert life threatening heart attacks and life time cardiac complications resulting in almost paralyzed life. Regular use of pomegranate in any way ensures a healthy cardiac life, thinning your blood, dissolving the blood clots and obstruction inside the coronary arteries, maintains optimal blood flow, supports healthy blood pressure, prevents and reverses atherosclerosis. we can not claim that the above information is established under clinical trials. it is just information shared from the internet.

Curcumin related phenolics possess anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, gastroprotective and hepatoprotective activities. the antioxidant activity of curcumin is comparable to standard anti-oxidants—vitamin C and E, BHA and BHT. the volatile oil, also curcumin, exhibited anti-inflammatory activity in a variety of experimental models (the effects were comparable to those of cortisone and phenylbutazone). Used orally, curcumin prevents the release of inflammatory mediators. It depletes nerve endings of substance P, the neurotransmitter of pain receptors. C 188 Curcumin's cholesterol-lowering actions include interfering with intestinal cholesterol uptake, increasing the conversion of cholesterol into bile acids and increasing the excretion of bile acids via its choleretic effects. Curcuminoids prevent the increases in liver enzymes, SGOT and SGPT; this validates the use of turmeric as a hepatoprotective drug in liver disorders. Carlone, obtained from the dried rhizome, is used against hepatitis. Turmeric and curcumin increase the mucin content of the stomach and exert gastroprotective effects against stress, alcohol, drug-induced ulcer formation. (Curcumin at doses of  mg/kg weight exhibited ulcerogenic activity in rats.) the ethanolic extract of the rhizome exhibited blood sugar lowering activity in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Yoga and meditation benefits

The practice of yoga and meditation has become increasingly popular in the past few years, but I am sure that there are many people who are still asking themselves, “What’s in it for me?” So, if you have been wondering whether it would be worth your time to start practicing yoga and meditation, I would like to give you five good reasons why it would be a very worthwhile activity for you.

1. Yoga and meditation will improve your health:
Yoga postures put gentle pressure on the internal organs of the body and help them to function properly. In particular, the postures help your digestive system to work smoothly and thus avoid problems such as constipation, acidity, and indigestion, which are common conditions that can lead to more serious problems later on. Meditation and deep relaxation can be just what you need to lower your blood pressure. Thus, yoga postures plus meditation is a great combination for maintaining and improving health.

2. Yoga and meditation will help you to overcome bad habitsWhat’s a “bad habit?” It’s something that you are doing continually, and something that you know is harming you but you can’t stop it. Are you smoking now? Maybe you thought it was good when you started, but you would now like to stop. The trouble is that it is not so easy to quit smoking or a similar habit once it has become established.

This is where yoga and meditation can help you out. The yoga postures help you to become more relaxed and mentally balanced. Meditation can help you to concentrate your mind and build up your will-power. Once you become internally balanced and have stronger will power, it will become possible for you to break any habit, even one that you have been troubled by for many years.

3. Yoga and meditation will help you to lose weightObesity is one of the biggest health problems of the modern era. Our lives have become more sedentary and our food sources have changed over the last 100 years and this why many adults and even children are now overweight.

Although this is a lifestyle problem, it is something that can be dealt with. The surest way to lose weight is to get more exercise and to control what you are eating. This is, of course, easier said than done. But yoga and meditation can help you out. There are some yoga postures that are helpful in weight loss programs. Similarly, the mental strength that you can get from both yoga postures and from meditation can help you to gain better control over your diet and this can result in healthy and permanent weight loss.

4. Yoga and meditation will bring you inner peace:
You may be earning a lot of money and you may have a lot of social prestige but is physical or social wealth the goal of your life? Whatever material or social wealth you have, if you are not contented, satisfied and at peace with yourself then you will not be a happy person.

The goal of meditation is to help you find the inner core of your being. Who are you? Is it the name and address on your identity card? If you start meditating you will find that deep within you is a pool of infinite love and peace. This is the real you. If you can reach this place, then you will find peace and contentment; it is guaranteed!

5. Yoga and meditation will make you a wiser person

Every one of us has made mistakes that we regret. There is nothing we can do about the past. We can’t go back in time and not make the mistakes. But what we can do is to build up our capacity to see what has permanent value and what is transitory. When we attain this state of discrimination, then we will not do actions that we will regret later on.

Meditation helps a person to go beyond the “chatter” of the mind and attain a state of wisdom that will always be of help. Wisdom does not mean stuffing your mind with “facts” but it does mean to have a mind that will choose a course of action that brings about the welfare of everyone.

So, if any one of these items are interesting for you, then why not see for yourself, and start practicing yoga and meditation?

How to manage illness Cold

1. Wash your hands - The world we live in is filled with viruses and bacteria that can make us ill. Your hands are no exceptions. Wash your hands often to keep them clean. If you cannot wash them, at least use some hand sanitizer, such as Dettol.

2. Drink hot fluids - especially in the morning - The rhinovirus incubates in the back of the throat and spreads in the upper respiratory area because it's cooler than the body temperature. Rhinovirus can't survive at 98.6 (hence it doesn't travel far down into the bronchi or the lungs). By drinking hot fluid (such as hot tea and lemon) you can prevent the virus from incubating.

3. Keep your hands out of your face - We have already discussed the germs and viruses on your hands. You cannot wash them continuously, so in between washings keep your hands out of your face. Your face is an open portal to your insides. Keep the germs away from your portal.

4. Drink water - Drinking more water is my answer to everything. Water will help clean out your body and keep it clean. It will also keep your body functioning at 100%. You should drink at least (eight) 250 ml of water every day. This will also help you lose weight.

5. Eat your fruits and vegetables - There are phytochemicals and antioxidants in fruits and vegetables that can help strengthen your immune system and prevent diseases. You should eat at least four servings of vegetables and two servings of fruits every day.

6. Multivitamins - If you are not eating all of your fruit and vegetable servings, you should take a multivitamin to ensure you are getting all of the vitamins your body needs to function properly. Take a simple one-a-day multivitamin every day.

7. Stay warm - Being cold weakens your immune system and makes your body more susceptible to illness. Look at the day’s temperature at weather.com before leaving your home. Wear layers in and out of your home when it is cold.

8. Relax and rest - Stress weakens your immune system. You can reduce your stress levels by relaxing and getting more sleep. Sleep is essential to maintaining a healthy immune system. Sleep will also boost your recovery time if you become ill.

Getting a cold can derail your nutrition and activity plans. However, if you follow the strategies I laid out for you, you can prevent this from happening.

Causes of HIV:human immunodeficiency virus (AIDS).

The purpose of sending this mail to GROUP is to be aware of the nonsense stuff from the net, don’t panic if you find a Needle in the Theater or some threatening note of infection.

It’s good to be well informed about HIV; human immunodeficiency virus. There was a story on junk some days back where it is said that a boy got infected by HIV virus by eating roadside food and there have also been rumors where people are affected by the HIV virus when they got pricked by an HIV infected needle in theaters which is rubbish.

So read along!

HIV; human immunodeficiency virus (virus) requires ONLY Blood or Semen as a medium to transmit from one body to another.

HIV: human immunodeficiency virus cannot transmit even through Saliva (mucous) i.e. even if HIV-infected patient coughs and another person is exposed to his sputum (cough), the virus still cannot transmit because the concentration of virus particles in sputum is almost NIL exposure to air anyway kill the virus in a fraction of seconds.

In case HIV-infected person got an injury (like the cut in below-mentioned story) and he is bleeding, the virus can transmit to another person only if another person has a cut/wound in his body that too when blood from both people comes in contact with each other (this is also very rare unless bleeding is very high) and not otherwise HIV can never survive in any other liquid medium also other than blood or semen. Even if one drinks an HIV infected blood (or semen) of someone (ingest through Gastrointestinal track), the virus cannot survive in the acidic pH of the stomach. Highest extent of acidity is 0 (practically not possible) so imagine 1 as pH which is in our stomach. (This pH can burn your own finger in less than a second if you dip in that acid).

Exposure of less than 1 second in AIR KILLS the HIV virus (hence story of needle pricks in Cinema theaters is a crap). Even if blood from a wound (of an infected person) dries up (blood clot), the virus dies and cannot infect anyone else HIV transmission is ONLY an INFECTION i.e. entrance of virus in one's body. It DOES NOT MEAN AIDS. An HIV-infected person (after the entrance of virus) can progress to the condition of AIDS only after 8 to 10 YEARS (not in 15 days as in the below-mentioned story)

It is not HIV (virus) that kills a human. The virus attacks immune cells (cells that fight against foreign pathogens/ antigens) and hence a person's ability to fight against infections diseases slowly diminishes and the person ultimately dies of a disease which could be as simple as TB Most importantly, HIV is no longer dreadful disease. it is CHRONIC MANAGEABLE DISEASE " just like Diabetes or Hypertension. If there is anything you need to be careful from to prevent HIV is unsafe sex, Blood transfusion (check before taking) / Blood donation (use sterilized needles only) and any blood contact during an accident or so where the amount of bleeding is very high.

BACKGROUND

Ayurved is a branch of Atharvaveda the self-created Brahma before creating men, first formulated this science of life consisting of a hundred thousand years and a thousand chapters. Ayurved is the oldest known form of healing. The term Ayurved derived from Sanskrit- "Ayur" and "Veda" meaning "life" and "knowledge" respectively. Ayur or life means a combination of the body, the sense organs, the mind, and the soul. Ayurved is a combination of science and philosophy, which provides the many mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual components necessary for holistic health. Ayurved will enable you to improve your general health and to become aware of your body's natural needs. Ayurved teaches how to get rid of the pain and suffering. It also teaches many ways of how to increase your happiness. The aim of Ayurved is not only to heal the sick but also to prevent illness and preservation of life. It heals the mind, body, and soul.

Diabetes: Diabetes is widespread globally ranking as one of the most common chronic diseases. There are millions of Diabetes throughout the world. Nobody knows their exact number but an estimated 8 to 10 percent of the world population has the disease.

Diabetes is an old enemy, being mentioned in ancient Indian, Greek, and Roman Medical texts. About 2,500 years ago, Ayurved authorities SUSHRUTA and CHARAKA noted that its victims frequently passed large amounts of Sugar-laden Urine, (Urine holding a lot of sugar), which attracted ants. Hence, they called the disease MADHU MEHA (Honey Urine), a term still commonly used. The modern name was coined by the second-century physician ARETAEUS, from the Greek word 'diabetes', which means, SIPHON (a piece of equipment for moving liquid from one place to another), because he observed that the disease acted like a siphon on its victims, "Melting down flesh and limbs in urine".

What is Diabetes?

However, it was only early this century that Medical Scientists found that the inadequacy of INSULIN, a natural hormone, caused DIABETES. Normally, after a meal, the complex carbohydrates in food are broken down into glucose, a simple sugar, which is absorbed into the bloodstream. This triggers certain cells in the PANCREAS, (15 cm long fish-shaped organ) situated behind the stomach to release tiny amounts of INSULIN which ferries glucose from the blood into each of the thousands of millions of cells that make up the body's various tissues and organs. INSULIN also helps to burn up the sugar within the cells themselves, releasing the energy required to maintain vital functions.

When such a key element (INSULIN) is deficient or ineffective, the body's well being suffers and with severe deficiency tissues starve ironically, midst plenty, for blood sugar keeps on rising since very little can enter the cells. Consequently, a large amount of Glucose and the water in which it is dissolved is filtered out of the blood in the kidneys, leading to excess urination. Deprived of sugar and fluids, the victim constantly feels weak, hungry, and thirsty, the typical symptoms of Diabetes.

There are two main types of diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes (IDDM): develops when there is a severe lack of insulin in the body because most or all of the pancreatic cells that produce it have been destroyed. This type of diabetes usually appears in people under the age of 40, often in childhood. It is treated with insulin injections and diet.

Type 2 Diabetes (NIDDM): Develops when the body can still produce some insulin, though not enough for its needs, or when the insulin produced is ineffective. This type of diabetes usually appears in people over the age of 40. It is treated by diet alone, or by a combination of diet and oral hypoglycemic, or by a combination of diet and insulin.

Type 2 is often viewed as 'mild' or a less serious form of diabetes. However, the high incidence of microvascular and macrovascular complications proves otherwise. Without appropriate interventions, people with type 2 are at greater risk of developing heart disease, renal failure, blindness, and foot problems such as chronic ulceration.

Do's and Don'ts - Diet and Exercise:
1. Avoid sweets, creams, butter, cheese, jams, pastry, and jellies.
2. Do not take fatty and fried foodstuff with excessive spices.
3. Eat germinating beans (sprouting) of high protein value.
4. Regular morning walk and mild exercise like yoga help you in effective control of diabetes.
